Hi guys,
I’ve recently fiddled around with the connectors and it’s time for me to move up to my real point, the component. Now, I’ve read all pages of the CMPs, SVN and of course the manual. Alright, now that I’ve got that out of the way, here it the real question:
How do I create a component (which is basically a collection of chunks, snippets, plugins and such; ergo: elements). Now, in Joomla and all other CMSes I’ve ever worked with, a component could be summoned like so:
http://www.mydomain.com/mycomponent
In the case of sef actions, it would be something like this to route to a switch’ case:
http://www.mydomain.com/mycomponent/post/create.html
Stripping away parts we don’t need, the system knows it has to execute the "mycomponent" component, point it to "location" "post" and call the "action" "create".
How does this work in Revoltion? I’ve got a working connector inplace under /core/components/mycmp/ but that’s now accesable from the frontend. I basically need to take over all of MODx but keep it’s functions to build a whole new website around it, using the resources and templates, input and output filters and template variables. Is this how MODx can operate or am I simply asking too much. I want/need to use MODx as a development platform for custom applications (like a account management system) and so forth.
