You can right-click on a folder and choose "Create->Create a document here" to put them under that folder.

You can also drag and drop them to where you want them in the tree (folders too).

What is the easy way to get into Wayfinder? Since that is next on my list since I plan to create the links through Wayfinder.
Create additional pages which I’ll do from the template and then use Wayfinder to create my navigational structure.

      Another question.
How do I use multiple <div id="maincontent">[[*content]]</div> content areas?

I am going to create a new template with these fields which will be kinda like a database to call in info from a film archive of movies we have shown in the film club. --- Perhaps I should rephrase. I have a archive of over 40 movies the film club has shown over the last few years. What is the best way for me to create this film archive in Modx? For they have a similar layout. A header with info about screening date, a leftcontent for images, a rightcontent for info about the movie, a footer with a embeded link to youtube or something similar so people can view a trailer.

Thank you people! Now I just need a good job in Oslo. Got any contacts anyone?

What is the easy way to get into Wayfinder? Since that is next on my list since I plan to create the links through Wayfinder.
Create additional pages which I’ll do from the template and then use Wayfinder to create my navigational structure.
The way i did it was to set the pages that i did not want to appear in the wayfinder-menu to ’Hide form menu’ in the individual page settings.
For sections i created folders that contained the subpages for the section.
My travel related site has a structure like this:

          (page) Startpage
          (page) errorpage (hidden form menu)
          (folder) destinations
          (page) county1
          (folder)country2
          (page in folder country2) place1
          (page in folder country2) place2
          (page in folder country2) place3
          (page) county3
          (folder) country4
          (page in folder country4) place1
          (page in folder country4) place2
          (page in folder country4) place3

I do it like this since i have just one page for some countries and several places for other countries.

Im calling wayfinder in a chunk with the folowing piece:
          [[Wayfinder? &startId=`10` &level=`0` &titleOfLinks=`longtitle` &parentRowTpl=`cssplay_revParentRow` &cssTpl=`cssplay_ultdrop`]]

Where startid equals the id for the folder for destinations (which is what i want to appear in my menu), level is set to 0 for full depth of pages and folders within a destination. I’ve chosen to use longtitle to be used for displaying as linktitles since i want to make more clickpromoting titles rather than the same as the menu title.

I’ve used the MuddyDogPaws example for css’ing the menu. But it does not support dynamic width of the menu items, which i would like to have as some destinations like Samoa and Fiji is just a few chars, but French Polynesia and Coock Islands requires a wider menu item. But it looks like this is a CSS-nut to be cracked rather than MODX specific.

I would also like to be able to use multiple templates with one mother-template for the overall look and feel, and a sub-template for the destinations that inherits the mother template, but it seems that a template can not be "connected" to a template the way a page can by specifying ’Uses Template:’. I beg a pardon if this is hijacking the topic, but I think this may be relevant and I asked about this in a thread in the templates section and it did not get answered.

I apologize for my fumblings and questions I likely should have found the answers to elsewhere. It is slow going since there is so much info to relate to. Trying to put together info from here and there has been difficult (It helped with checking out muddydogpaws site but it was unclear for me how to put things together), so I appreciate all the help that I am getting here. Thank you....:)

I am trying to find information on getting the newest update of Wayfinder to work. Since there is different info from different versions of Wayfinder I find it difficult to know where to find the newest updated info. I have downloaded The almost complete guide.... which is a help.

But I am trying now to figure out what to relate to since the new version of Wayfinder does not any longer require a snippet or ul list tags. How do I correctly put together this menu. Please correct my steps and please let me know how to proceed.

            Wayfinder

Begin by adding the snippet Wayfinder. Go to System -> Package Management
            Click Add New Package.
Click Select a Provider. Click Next.
Provider drop down choose modxcms.com. Click Next.
Choose Wayfinder. It will open a new window and lead to the modxcms site.
Click the link to download wayfinder.

Unzip the folder and place it into the modx -> core folder -> packages

In the Select Packages to Download popup window - click finish.
            Click Add New Package
            Click search Locally for Packages.
            Search Locally for Packages.
Click Yes. It then looks inside the packages folder. Choose wayfinder.

            Go to the template
Begin by removing the existing menu structure, and paste it someplace else.

            I removed this link sturcture:
            <p>Velkommen</p> (welcome)
            <p>Om OSF</p> (About OSF)
<p>Månedens Film</p> (Movie of the Month)
            <p>Påmelding</p> (Reserve a ticket)
            <p>Meldemskap</p> (Membership)
            <p>Nyhetsbrev</p> (Newsletter)
            <p>Siste Nytt</p> (News)
            <p>Film Arkiv</p> (Movie Archive)
            <p>Kontakt</p> (Contact)

Replace it with the wayfinder tag:

            [[Wayfinder? &startId=`0` ]]

Ok I have gotten so far. I am still trying to figure out how to proceed from here.

You need to create Resources same Title as your link Structure ie Title = Velkommen and the rest.
I would also suggest you use an alias with lowercase no spaces for friendly URL’s
Do not hide from Menu and set Page to Published

              Hope this helps

Actually I suddenly understood why Wayfinder contained multiple links that I had not made. It is the sample site files that are being shown. So I had to uninstall the sample site.

                It helped!

                One thing though
I had to make a parent of the whole menu or else it would not show. Right now I have a folder above the menu showing. I want to make the parent (site folder) invisible but still have the menu in place. Do you know how I can do that?

Set the id of the parent folder as the start id for wayfinder.
Tick the box "hide from menu" in the "Create/Edit document"-tab of the parent folder/resource.

Thanks! That helped a lot! smiley smiley

Takk Bjørn..:) Hyggelig å se deg..:)

I posted the process at http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,53501.0.html
When I have gotten a bit further I will start creating screencasts so the ones coming behind can learn.

Next step is to include some styling in the menu and content area. Anyone got any tips for that?

I felt that i hit the wall, when styling the menu. As I mentioned obeve in this thread I went for the MuddyDogPaws example (this time a link to the example itself) for css’ing the menu. But it does not support dynamic width of the menu items. Which means that one has to set fixed width. I’ve managed to get width adjusted to the lenght of the content in Firefox, but my method does not work with IE, Chrome, Opera and Safari. So as mentioned above this looks like a CSS-nut to be cracked rather than MODX specific.
I think with your modest length of menutitles the example wil be sufficient as it is.
