Oky Doky: can’t finish an installation.
Downloaded the non-SVN/non-advanced version from the modx site. Everything goes smoothly, all the environment checks are marked OK, then I click on the install button and after a couple of attempts at connecting to localhost I get the connection was reset warning in FF.
I have verified permissions on all folders, have updated my php.ini with the recommended settings. Still to no avail.
Environment:
Windows XP SP2
XAMPP 1.7.0
Apache 2.2.11
MySQL 5.1.30
I have verified and all PHP extensions required (as per the server requirements) are installed.
Want to play- help!

What MySQL client API is this using? Also, make sure any opcode caching extensions are disabled for the installation, i.e. eAccelerator, APC, etc.
MySQL API client is version 5.1.30.
I have not installed any opcode cache extensions- I see no mention of them in phpinfo page. I’ve read through the documentation on the xampp site, and don’t see any mention of these extensions being installed on a default installation.
Should note that the database is populated- I’ve created the database initially in phpMyAdmin.
Same problem.

I have not tested with MySQL 5.1.x; we run 5.0.x without problems though. You may have to wait for another release so we can work out any issues with 5.1.x, though it should work fine AFAIK. The other possibility is 5.3 errors that have been addressed post beta3, if you wanted to try the latest SVN revision. Also, need to ensure you are not using mysqlnd (the new MySQL native client driver), as there are some bugs with this that are showing up with PDO. Have you considered trying XAMPP 1.7.2 since it is out?
Thanks AHHP- I did a clean install of xampp 1.7.2, and was able to install revo with no problems.
Should have searched more, but a few searches didn’t seem to match up to my problem.
