Just updated to SVN Revo (revision 5681) and I get the following error on top of the manager page. The login box is present but trying to log in just loops infinitely.

The front end seems to be fine.

UPDATE: I GET THE SAME ERROR IN THE FRONT-END. Since I cannot log in, I imported a test page directly into the database (modx_site_content table) using phpMyAdmin. (yes I imported it correctly - this has been tested before smiley - I have a .csv file I use for this purpose)

This is a problem with your MySQL socket configuration. I’ve never encountered this problem, but I think you just need to find the my.conf that is controlling your MySQL server instance and make sure it is looking for the correct socket...

That did it thanks. Explicitly set a value for mysql.default_socket in my php.ini and all is well (copied the value from my.cnf).
