If i was starting today I would definitely use Revolution! Avoid getting into Evo habits and go for the future. It’s like learning HTML and doing layouts in tables rather than using css...unfortunately i am an old dog so I have to re-learn and kill old habits.

That’s exactly the word I have been spreading to the french community, this might be the most asked question these days. Of course I can’t advise low tech profiles or people with a pressing project to go for Revolution yet as they’ll definitely need some addons.

As Shaun said, we really need to attract developpers to Revolution and that should be doable given the amazing flexibility it seems to offer (I say seems because I am not a developper and I can’t really grasp the code, but I think I grasp most concepts). I have said time and again that to me, it’s the key to Revolution success. As far as I am concerned, the "problem" I have with "selling" Revolution to developpers is the fact I can’t answer decently more technical questions it takes a developper to convince another one I suppose tongue

So the next logical thing I’ll say is we need early adopters developpers to be Revolution’s ambassadors to other developpers and network from there...

I think more people would start with Revo now if it were more ’accessible’. It needs friendly documentation, examples and tutorials.

Assuming you’re a developer, as soon as you start working with Revo you have questions such as:

      * How do user access permissions and policies work?
      * What are contexts and how do you use them?
      * How do I create custom components integrated with the manager?

      And with xPDO:

      * What is the xml syntax for defining my data models?
      * how do I do define a one-to-one, one-to-many and many-to-many relationship between database tables?
      * how do I do create transactions?

Finding the answer to these questions involves a lot of searching; the answers do exist but not readily accessible.

(Currently this is the best place to start)

The best tutorials I’ve seen for extending a CMS are for Silverstripe, eg:
      http://doc.silverstripe.com/doku.php?id=tutorial:5-dataobject-relationship-management

The best documentation I’ve seen for an object relationship mapper is for Doctrine:
      http://www.doctrine-project.org/documentation/manual/1_1/en/introduction

It would be wonderful to have something like this for Revo.
