      Hello,

I want to make some (web context) documents visible only to logged in users.
How to do it in MODx Revolution (in MODx evo it was very simple).

Create a User Group (we’ll say ’DemoUG’ for example). Create a Resource Group (DemoRG).

Go to Security -> Access Permissions.

See the 1st grid. Add a new row that assigns the User Group to the ’web’ context with a Resource Policy, and an authority of say, 10. This gives that User Group access to the web context.

See the 2nd grid, click New, select the UserGroup and the ResourceGroup. Set authority to some number, say, 10. Select Resource access policy. This gives that User Group access to that Resource Group.

Set your Resources to the proper Resource Group. Flush Permissions. done.

          Shouldn’t that be a 401 Unauthorized?

Ok, there’s still a problem. Checking access permission box makes webresource unavailable to SuperadminsUG:
I mean after I log as a member of SuperadminsUG.

And superadmin user which belongs to SuperadminsUG have following access permissions:

            Access Permissions:

If the authority is set to 0 on your access control entry, make sure the user is a SuperUser in the appropriate group (i.e. has an authority of 0 in their Role within the UserGroup), not just a member. The authority uses get from this role must be less than or equal to the authority specified in the access control entry to apply.

                  Great it worked!
                  I bow you.

So generally it means that if i give ’User Group to Context’ access (1st grid) with authority say about 10, I then have to give a user from this group a ’role’ which has lower authority (f.e. 3)?

Precisely; authority is a mechanism by which we can provide more granular permissions within a single group (i.e. group administrators, etc.).
