Is there a roadmap for this transition? I ask because RC1’s file structure and Manager structure is the same as 9.6.3.
I was confused to see the back end look so radically the same as 963’s when the beta from 3 weeks ago had the new interface. Why the switch? Why no new terminology and concepts in the manager of RC1?
Evo comes to replace 0963, revolution beta is MODx 2!

Correct, the MODx 1.0.0-RC1 release (a.k.a. Evolution) is the natural progression of the MODx 0.9.6.3 code base; mostly rebranding, bug fixes and small improvements. MODx 2.0.0-beta-1 (Revolution) is a completely separate code base that was written from scratch and remains in a beta phase. The current plan is for these two code bases to continue development in parallel until MODx 2.0.0 is released as stable. MODx 1.0.0 will be released in the very near future, after this short RC phase is completed.
Note that a complete feature freeze has NOT been implemented, BUT major changes to Evolution’s code base will be pushed to a 1.1 branch while migration tools and tutorials are completed for the upgrade path between the 1.0.x to 2.0.x releases. At that point all bets are off and the natural progression of each code base will continue. I expect they will both see many additional releases in the future.
I suspect that the similarities in the manes of Revo and Evo will have more people confused until it gets more established. I fell victim to a mix up as well in the announcement of Evo 1.0rc thinking it was Revo’s RC release.
Thanks for the clarification.
