    Hello,

I’d like to create a file uploading add-on to Revolution. It will consist of snippets, chunks and custom manager page(s). Is there any reference component that I could look at to get the project structure right and files in correct places? I have understood that Shaun’s blog posts in are mostly out dated, at least they all seem to have notice boxes at the top saying that the instructions doesn’t apply to latest SVN code.

BobRay’s SPForm and the star_rating resources seems to have quite similar file/folder layouts.. Is that the correct structure? Is there some up-to-date info about what should be the structure for a 3rd party component and what files should be where.. eg. where should the snippet templates for transport scripts be? the assets for snippets? the model etc. classes that snippets use? the assets and classes for custom manager pages? lexicon things? etc..

      Doze,

The tutorial on building a 3PC build script is up-to-date. The other tutorials, I fear, are not.

I’ll be releasing the Quip code to the modx-components SVN later today, and making a post about it. Quip has quite a bit to it - including snippets, chunks, and a manager interface - that should get you started.

Great, looking forward to that! Thanks for the info.

I’ll be going over the code and adding some more comments to it as the week goes by.

I’ve been meaning to get those tutorials up to date for awhile now, and I have half of the new Custom Manager Pages tutorial finished... just finding time to get the rest finished is difficult. I thought I would have more time to work on them recently but unfortunately I haven’t, and I honestly feel terrible about it. I’ll try and finish it up ASAP and get it posted on Confluence. smiley

Ric, some of those will need to be rewritten/revised to reflect the latest changes. But we can definitely do that post-facto, if you will. smiley

That sounds good. I think that after the docs are brought up to date with the latest beta, it shouldn’t be too bad keeping them up to date later. The transition from early alpha (when the tutorials were written) to the current beta has had huge changes, so the docs are definitely in need of a total rewrite. Hopefully I can clear some things off my plate and get the documentation cleaned up soon. smiley

Is there a condensed version for creating template packages? Also is there any hope of builder in the manager where you just select the items to include and hit go?

I’ve been working on one, that we are really hoping to get out for Revo-rc1, but to be honest - it depends on the amount of investment we get for MODx development. There are a lot of other priorities that are taking precedence at the moment: client work to pay for food/rent, fixing bugs in beta-1, filling out the documentation, and getting developers into the project.

To do a manager page similar to what the Package Builder used to be - but working properly - is a major endeavor. I’ve got some simple basics working, but it’s still a ways away. Here’s a flickr gallery of some initial screenshots:

I will be happy to contribute some templates to the development effort once I have a clue how to put everything together. Naturally take care of the home first after all your no good to us without power and internet.
