    Hi
    I am trying to change manager path to something like "/mngr"
    I didn’t find how to do this but found some code referencing to MODX_MANAGER_PATH.
    So I renamed manager folder to "mngr" and added to config.core.php (both in root and mngr folders) such define:
    define('MODX_MANAGER_PATH', '/path/to/modx/mngr/');

    now i can access to manager login page.
    If I enter wrong password I get the normal message (something like "wrong username or password")
    But if i enter right password I get "500 Error  - A fatal application error has been encountered" page. No explanation.

    Here are two questions:
    1. is adding define(’MODX_MANAGER_PATH’...) enough to  change manager path?
    2. how to determine the cause of the error?

    P.S. using beta-1

      You should set the path during install, but this feature is only available in the ADVANCED distribution, not the standard.  It should work, but you will also need to adjust MODX_MANAGER_URL if you do this manually. Also, make sure your config.core.php file in the new manager directory location has the proper path for MODX_CORE_PATH.

        imi: I’ve changed the manager folder name in Revolution successfully so it definitely works.

        I think you should be able to do an upgrade setup and set the Manager path and URL (the technique is a little funky, you have to check the checkbox first, then set the variables. It will tell you if the path is invalid.

          You don’t have to check the checkbox first, but the checkboxes will only be checked if you modify the preset values and then change focus to another field (i.e. tab through it). Feel free to offer suggestions on how to improve the usability of that...

            It seemed to me that if I modified the field, then checked the checkbox or clicked on another field, the field reverted (or failed to stick for the actual install) -- maybe I’m misremembering.

            For usability, how about graying out the field until the checkbox is checked and putting (custom) next to the checkbox.

            As it is, it might confuse new users since some could assume that you’d need to check the check box to make it use the default value. I didn’t get it until about the third try (good thing I’m around to simulate confused users wink ).

                That was my experience too...
