    1. Am new to MODx and am trying out the Alpha6 release. In the admin menu, when i click component menu, the drown down is empty/blank. What elements or links should be there? The rest of the menu items seems to work ok.

    2. When i create and post a new document in Site > New Document, when i click on the Site > Preview, the document comes up but without the template. Where am i going wrong?

It should be empty until you install a component that features a custom manager interface.

Not sure without knowing more about your page; have you tried clearing the cache?

BTW, a lot has changed since alpha-6 and if you want to test the lastest, see this article.

I’m going to guess that you either haven’t created a template, or you haven’t assigned the new document to that template.

Actually, i don’t have a template for it. I thought Revo comes with a default User Template like 0.9.6* versions. Actually, Revo is totally different from 0.9* series! How do i create a template for it? I have managed to create a new template using 0.9.6 for the first time and i like it already. I’ll download the SVN version and give it one more push...

I have a selection of templates converted for use in revo, build and install them as normal revo packages, go to my software download page here http://bitez.hobby-site.com/index.php?id=63 and go to projects/revolution/templates.
Use MODx, or the cat gets it!

Thank you very much. I have downloaded some few for testing purposes. I also love the current Modxcms template. Is it available for download?

I download the SVN Revision 4882 and the revo templates from the link you gave me.

                  1. Sorry to ask but how to i build the said templates, e.g Andreas02? Should i copy them in /manager/templates/ or /assets/templates?
                  2. How do i install packages downloaded with the package retriever?

OK, you’ll have to build them and then do a local install.

                    1. Unzip the file into a directory of your choice. I do this in a directory called ’builder’ in the /core/packages directory but it can be anywhere.
                    2. Go into the _build directory and copy the file build.config.sample.php to build.config.php and edit the file as directed to point to the root
                    of your revo install.
                    3. On the command line type ’php build.transporrt.php’ or point your browser to this file. There should be no errors and a timing mark should be printed at the end.
                    4. Login to the manager and go to system/packages. From here select to add a package as a locally installed package, i.e not from a provider.
                    5. The package list should update to show your package, right-click on it and select to install it.

On completion the template will appear in the elements/template view as normal and can be assigned to docs etc.

Step 1 Done! Thank you very much. Works out perfect. Now, Ive grasped the whole concept. Themes working fine.
Step 2: What happened to chunks & Snippets? Where are they in Revo?
