Well, I downloaded Revolution Alpha 6 to give it a shot and didn’t get past setup.

Currently, I’m using a MAMP environment locally and have the mysql database set to port 8889.

When I test the connection, Revolution is unable to connect to the database whether I set the database host to localhost:8889 or not.? My guess is it’s the port that’s throwing off Revolution. It would be great if we could enter a custom port during setup.

Any workarounds for the time being?

    Thanks
    Mike Gregoire

Should work fine with the port. I believe you have other issues at work here; have you reviewed all of the fresh installation instructions?

I definitely have no problem in my mamp environment and can easily connect to my db outside of revolution. There aren’t any details/warnings on the fresh installation page that relate to my issue. So that page isn’t helpful.

Doh! I think I’ve figured out the issue. Though it’s due to something that’s a bit unclear in the setup form.

The top part of the form states that it will try and create the database if it doesn’t exist. When you test the connection, I have a suspicion that it’s not trying to create the db, only connect to it. Is that true? If so, shouldn’t it try and create the db then? Anyway, I manually created the db first and all is well.

I suppose it should create it at that point; it currently will create it as the first thing it does when you click install in the last step, after displaying another warning in the checks along with text indicating it will attempt to create the database.
