Using Smarty in Revolution

    Hi.

    I can’t to find answer on this qustion anywhere on the forum.

    How to use Smarty syntax in the Revolution templates. Is it possible?

      Hi Metaller, it can definitely be done as the entire manager was written that way feeding ExtJS. Shaun’s out for the holiday but hopefully he can chime in with some feedback before hitting the road.

            I’m trying to explain.

            In current version (0.9.x) we can use PHx to realize some logic in templates: conditions if...then...else, output modifers.

            How to make it in Revolution? Is it possible to use smarty {if} {for} {section} etc. in Revolution’s templates? Or we must use PHx as in current version?

                You would have to extend the modResource and modElement classes, and do some internals...this was an idea for us, maybe creating a modSmartyElement and modSmartyResource, but we haven’t gotten around to it yet.

                Or, you could just create a snippet to render tpl’s within the content.

                    Um quite interesting

                    One thing is Smarty favour is that it is used in many different projects and is quite powerful now. I like the fact that a css/html coder will be able to grasp smarty quickly without the need to worry about delving into the core php itself. However, PHx is also quite flexible.

                    Having a modSmartyElement and modSmartyResource so those who want, can choose Smarty templating would be very handy, especially in large projects where the design team is different to the code team.
