I would like to try out the 097-a, but sort of was put off by this warning:

Note that this may completely wipe any existing data you have in your database.

I know I could also loose my data because of bad weather or whatever, but how serious a risk is this ?

is there in the initial 097-installation the option to make new sql-tables with a prefix so that they live nicely next to my 096-tables ?

    thanks for easing my worries.

    • Yes, you can use another prefix or create another database and web location to play around with 0.9.7. Just don’t expect to migrate your 0.9.6 site to it yet. Migration tools for 0.9.6.x sites will come about with the beta release.

But ultimately, it’s an alpha; we’re looking for folks to help debug, test, and suggest. We cannot assure you of anything with regard to risks; it’s best if you just keep your 0.9.7 testing to a local environment where it doesn’t have anything to do with your 0.9.6 site or data.
