(If there’s already a subforum for discussing/asking questions/complaining, please move this there.)

So. I got the latest from SVN, found the post that explains how to build the files for installation, and after a few false starts got it installed. Immediately two things raised questions.

    1. Is there a site configuration utility yet? (the existing link just says "No action with ID 3 found.")

    2. The Site -> Preview opens the front-end in the same browser window as the Manager was, and since it’s a Javascript button you can’t just right-click and choose "open in a new tab". Does this really need to be javascript? And if it does, does it really have to replace the Manager window instead of opening a new one?

      Susan:

Everything worked two days ago with the menus, and was broken until just a few minutes ago, when I straightened out some recent commits over the last few days. Refresh from SVN, get fresh, and give it another try; should not see the ID 3 stuff now.

The Preview will open in a new window; that is just an oversight and may already be in the Trac tickets. And yes, it would still need to be javascript anyway, as it is an iframe that the content is being dynamically loaded in.

Susan, please look in your core/cache/logs/error.log file for possible details of the error; many errors are logged to that file. If you get lost, can you take this to the #xpdo IRC channel (or another, less-public communication channel) so I can assist you getting up and running without all the public forum exposure. No reason to cloud public forums with pre-release installation adventures that can change from minute to minute.

        Thanks.

Ok, sorry. I was just having fun...I won’t do it any more.

Wasn’t asking you to stop doing anything; just communicate the details of the error directly to me rather than through the forum? I have not received the details...

I know; I’ve got a bad head cold right now, which was why I was idly poking at this and not doing anything constructive. I’ll get in touch in a few more days when I feel more human.
