    Hi everyone,

Recently we wanted to upgrade to newest version of MODx on a shared hosting (after site being hacked). Unfortunately we couldn’t proceed the installation process since our hosting provider did not have any PDO support. Also our hosting provider refused to install PDO due to technical reasons. Since then I have looked everywhere on net for a way to install MODx without PDO. So far I haven’t found any solutions sad

By looking at general requirements at http://modxcms.com/learn/general-requirements.html it seems that PDO is not required at all but just mentioned for optimal results. Could someone verify that it is possible to install latest version of MODx without having PDO module?

Evolution can be installed without PDO.

      Revolution requires PDO; no exceptions.

Thats great! I assumed that Revolution is newest version and Evolution is no longer being updated. So it seems that MODx have split up in two branches. So you are saying that it is safe to upgrade to newest version of Evolution? All known security bugs have been fixed in Evolution?

Yes and yes. Evo is still active and supported, and will be for the foreseeable future.
