newQuery Question

What’s the preferred method for a simple call to getCollection()? IOW, which is more efficient?

$c = $modx->newQuery('modResource');
$c->where(array('published'=>1));
$resources = $modx->getCollection('modResource',$c);

or

$resources = $modx->getCollection('modResource',array('published'=>`));

or is there no difference, or specific situations where one or the other is preferred?

No difference; the criteria is converted to an xPDOQuery either way. In the second case you are just pushing that responsibility to the xPDO->getCollection() method itself.
