I am looking for some easy to follow tutorials on the following.

1. working with gallery. installing and making work.
2. taking .psd to MODx template
3. taking html to MODx template
4. creating custom MODx template from scratch

For 2. use a psd to css tutorial, those also include html. The result can be used directly as a MODx template. To make use of snippets, chunks or TemplateVariables in them, check the according tutorial. Plenty of all this can be found with a simple YouTube or Google search. Same applies to 4. There are actually pretty good tutorial clips for that.

1. You can make a gallery from scratch with PHx + Template Variables +lightbox, otherwise you can install one from the extras section of modxcms.com.
2. This is done as usual, psd to html
