[SOLVED] An error occurred while connecting to the Provider (Please help!)

    I`m getting this error message when I try to download extras in MODx Revolution 2.4 pl2

    An error occurred while connecting to the Provider: MODx received a blank response from the provider. Please double check your service URL and make sure the provider is a valid provider.

    This error was reported by 2 other users in the past and I think the following post can help me solve it: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php?topic=52208.0
    After speaking with my host, they acknowledged that they block connections for security reasons.

    Now I need to know which host they need to allow connection to at port 80. How do I determine that?

    My environment:

    PHP Version: 5.2.12
    MySWL Version: 5.0.67
    cURL support enabled
    cURL Information libcurl/7.19.0 OpenSSL/0.9.8h zlib/1.2.3 libidn/1.10

      I checked the error log and found this:

      As I mentioned above, I believe the issue is caused by the fact the provider blocks connections at port 80 for security reasons.
      They asked to identify which host I wanted to allow connection to. How do I do that?

        This issue is fixed.

        The provide had to whitelist MODx packge host.

        Here’s the message I received from them:
        I have whitelisted ip 74.55.204.125 of rest.modxcms.com

        Please be advised that the ip adress of the host can be changed by modxcms.com in the future
        and that we are not able to track this. If future connects fail in cause of a ip adress change of the
        host please report this to us so that we can update the specific firewall rule.

          I think this has now changed to 199.47.222.137 (for those still using this as a help resource)
