MODx backup and user roles

I am a client of a Marketing Agency who has designed our website. I am trying to learn as much about MODx as possible to eventually take over the entire running of the website (currently I only have access to edit page content). But, the agency is particularly protective of the website and always resist increasing my permissions (We do own 100% of the website however). Also getting any information out of them is quite tough.

So, to help me learn about our particular website I have asked them for a full file and database backup so that I can host it locally using MAMP on my Mac.

Question: Once I get all the files will all the Users and Roles from the hosting server be backed up and preserved on my local server? (Meaning I will still have to use my password and limited to only editing content?) Or will my server rules allow me to have full super user access and thus full reign to edit any part of the website? If not what do I ask them to do to the back up so I can have full rights?

Any advice appreciated - sorry if this is a lame question!

The site should be exactly the same as it is on the remote server, permissions and all. You will, however, be able to change the passwords directly in the database so that you’ll be able to log in as the other users. I don’t use Revo, so I’m not familiar with its user management, but others will certainly be able to help you get it up and running on your localhost.

Thanks for the quick reply. That is exactly the information I was trying to find and should be able to manage once I get the files. But I will definitely be back when I run into to trouble!
