document.parser.class.inc.php - File Attributes

Just a quick one to those savvy phpers out there

If I set the document.parser.class.inc.php in MODx Evolution 1.0.4 to:

• Owner Permissions = Read
• Numeric Value = 400

Will this have an effect on the sites day to day use ?

Inform me if I am wrong but aren’t Group and or public permissions (if I am on the right track) non relevant to normal use of MODx, at least for the document.parser.class.inc.php file.

For those who don’t know, the above are both the same, it just depends on what your FTP, UI or CP shows.

As long as it can be read by the PHP process it will be fine; the exact permission depends on whether you are using some kind of suExec on the server. Once MODx is installed, the only files that needs to be writable are the cache files. I often set the config file to read-only.

Ive had it set to read only all day and as of yet around 5000 visitors havent complained that something isnt working

So I presume all is well.
