Simple question for those doing this: Is it possible (and practical) for your development environment to be on a remote, web-accessible server OR must it be a local one?
------
Server: *nix, ModX Evo 1.0.4, Apache 2.x, PHP 5.x, Mysql 5.x.

And maybe i can put all my dev into the cloud - with the help of http://kodingen.com
I gave it a try but cannot load MODX as unable to switch of safe_mode seems great for the price! I was impressed with the speed from SA seems faster than my paid hosting in US. As far as I got it was almost like working on my localhost.
EDIT
I see they show loading MODX in their screencast tutorial but only copying the files no installation
DEVELOPMENT ENV:- Ubuntu 12.04 | MODx Revolution 2.2.8 | LAMP 2i Apache 2.2.22 | Php 5.3.10 | Mysql 5.5.31 MySQL client version: 5.5.31
