I’m wanting to know how it might be possible to send an email from MODx Revo at regular intervals, say, once a week. I’m thinking that the same facility that automatically changes the publish and unpublish setting would be the most readily available facility to generate the automation, but how do MODx do that automation, and how could I use that to build a plugin?

I would recommend setting up a cron job if your host supports it. Crons are timers that execute scripts at specific intervals, such as every hour, every day, or in your case, once a week.

The approach you are suggesting may work- if your site is trafficked regularly and you are not overly concerned about mail being delivered at non-precise times.

Yeah, not sure if the host would support it though. What’s the process MODx uses for updating the publish and unpublish dates?
