I’m almost sure that an HTML Area TV used to provide a text area for entering raw HTML (which kind of makes sense given the name). I’m not sure if it was handled the same as a textarea TV or not (possibly a difference in the handling of EOL characters).
Now it’s a rich text field. Was this change intentional (and is it permanent)?
Use Textarea instead of HTML Area. You will get to enter all your raw HTML there. Don’t know what is the purpose of HTML Area, though..
Thanks, but I need an answer from Shaun or Jason about the future of HTML Area (for the book).

Yes.
Is there any reason to choose HTML Area versus Rich Text, or are they aliases of one another?
Aliases; in fact, in 2.1, htmlarea no longer exists.

Did you mean 2.2? It’s still showing in the Manager in my version of 2.1 RC3.
Should I describe it as deprecated?

Yes.
Could you edit your posts down a little. I’m getting eyestrain from reading these long-winded posts.
