Raw MySQL queries in Revo?

Is there a way to issue raw queries to the database in Revo? I’m working on some reporting queries that make good use of MySQL’s grouping and date functions.

I can escape user input and all that, but this is an area that goes beyond the ActiveRecord stuff...

Any pointers?

Did you try it? I’m sure it’s quite possible, since it’s all only PHP code. However, I suspect that xPDO and the MODx API can handle your needs even better. That’s not my area of expertise, though, so I’ll await with interest Jason or one of the other core coder’s response. You could also probably get a solution in the #xpdo channel on IRC.

Yes, Susan, that’s what I meant: via the API. It’s all via xPDO’s database handle. Here’s what I found:



There are lots of methods in core/xpdo/xpdo.class.php, including prepare and execute for handling prepared queries. These all tie into the PDO functions, e.g. http://php.net/manual/en/function.pdo-query.php
