MyJournal, an article manager for MODx Revolution

Hello fellow modxers,

Developped along side Romain may i introduce to you MyJournal

MyJournal is a component to manage the articles (blog, news ...).
The component is in alpha stage, its use in production is not recommended. Criticism, feature request and bug report are welcome.

Here is a list of features currently available:

• use of resources as a "container" / categories
• list of items per container
• support for published / unpublished state
• Friendly URLs
• "simplified theming”

In the roadmap (not fixed), you have:

• managing custom fields (eg introtext, longtitle ...)
• support for multiple categories (an article in several categories)
• rights management (ACLs)
• RSS feeds
• support for snippets (including Quip)

Installation:

• install from the package manager
• refresh the page to display the setup menu of MyJournal

Configuration:

• Create a new container
• Click on MyJournal menu (the two menu items leads to the same manager page)
• choose “create a new container”
• fill in the information requested in the new window (if you enabled the automatic generation of aliases in the system settings of MODx, you can leave the field empty alias) and save
• a new resource should appear in the tree (and the grid containers)

Using an existing resource such as container:

• in the containers management menu, drag and drop your resource from the tree onto the grid container
• if the operation was successful, the resource should appear in the grid
• make sure that the content of the resource contains [[! MyJournal]] snippet call

Note:

• whatever the selected method of creating container you have chosen, the content of the resource must have the call to the snippet [[! MyJournal]]
• To avoid error message during the alpha it is recommended to use the template FreshPick supplied with the component.
• MyJournal requires the components WayFinder and Quip to test all the features already integrated.

All the resources displayed in the grid are considered container.
If you edit the resources (from the tree), you will be redirected to the list of articles for the container. You can still edit these resources by clicking on the button "edit container ’(or via the quick edit from the tree).

Create an article by clicking the button above the screen listing the existing articles.

Documentation, at this stage of development, is succinct and evolve gradually. The functions available, however, should be intuitive. If this is not the case, do not hesitate to give back your impressions and suggestions.
