Revolution: Updated Plugin creation tutorial?

I am sure this has been asked before, but I have searched around on the docs, here and on Google, but not been able to find it, so I figured I would ask as someone will likely know right off.

I am trying to make a simple MODx plugin (basically a manager page with some settings for db fields). As I want to be able to package it and use it on several sites I tried following Shaun McCormick’s tutorial: http://rtfm.modx.com/display/~splittingred/2008/06/26/Writing+a+3rd+Party+Component+in+MODx+Revolution%2C+Pt.+I

However things like the Tools->Package Builder do not exist in the latest version? Anyway I really liked the tutorial and was following it and understanding the ideas, but it of course is no good if it is out of date.

Anyone know of a nice simple tutorial (like the one for the doodles plugin) that works with the 1.0 final releases of Revolution?

BTW, all Revolution versions are 2.x not 1.x. The 1.x versions are Evolution, which has no Package Installation utility.

Revolution does have PackMan, which is a limited version of Package Builder, although it might not meet your needs. Package Builder was unreliable although it may return someday.
