One or two modx-installations for two different domains?

Can anybody tell me if it is recommended to use one modx-installation for two different domains or is it better to setup two different installations for two domains? Are there any advantages and disadvantages which we have to take into account before deciding if we make a second installation or integrating a second domain in our existing installation?

I usually use separate installs for each domain, the only instance where I would use a new context would be for a subdomain.

One of the advantages of having multiple sites on 1 MODx install is being able to manage them all via the same manager.

The biggest disadvantage is if your site breaks all sites hosted on it will break too so IMHO I’d rather break 1 site than break all my sites.

So it’s up to you to decide which is more important.
