Upgrade Issues [Solved]

Hi guys,

I need some serious help, trawling the internet and these forums has given me lots of suggestions but none so far have worked.

I need to upgrade an installation of MODx Revolution 2.0.7-pl (traditional) but there are a couple of issues preventing me from doing it.

I’ll list the issues as I’m sure they could be related:

The Console only displays "Console running..." when clearing the cache but seems to be clearing it
The Package Installer displays a blank License Agreement, Readme, Changelog and Setup Options. Going through the process and clicking ’Finish’ pops up the Consol but again it only says ’Console running...’ before an error lightbox appears with the message ’Could not install package with signature: googlesitemap-1.2.1-pl
The error log has not been created and is empty

I’m not getting any errors in the apache logs related to PHP, I was getting the timezone warning which I thought could have been breaking execution but easily fixed that with no affect.

There is a small bug in the 1.2.1-pl upgrade script
http://bugs.modx.com/issues/5185

Basically during the install the tick box "core package already extracted" is enabled by default as it detects your old installation. So if you just upgrade using the default settings then the new core package doesn’t get extracted.

Try re-installing the upgrade making sure that the checkbox for "core package is extracted" is turned off.

Hi apcherry and thanks for the response.

I should have mentioned that the errors with the package manager is when trying to install any package not just the google sitemap.

These problems are preventing me updating any packages whatsoever. I don’t know if it’s related but if I add the googlesitemap-1.2.1-pl package directly to the core/packages folder and run the Add New Package >> Search Locally for Packages functionality, it does not pick up the plugin from their either.

Looking in the modx_transport_packages database table, I can see entries that have null value as follows:

Hi,

Sorry not got a specific solution as I’m not an expert. However as it’s all packages you’re having problems with then I still think it’s worth checking the core install again.

You can run the install setup routine again, and double check the option "core package already extracted" is turned off. See if that updates the core routines correctly.

We’ve fixed it but it took upgrading MODx to the latest version to do so. I think it must have been a faulty install somehow.

I must say, now it’s working, the package management toll is fantastic, as good as WordPress’ that’s for sure, if not better.
