You upload it to your server using your FTP client.

I do beg your pardon. Also if your server configuration allows it the MODx Manager has a File Manager where you can upload files. The TinyMCE resource browser also has a file type, but it only give access to assets/files folder, and again can only be used if the files folder has permissions or the server is configured to run as the file’s owner.

If you really wanted to get fancy, you could use PHP’s FTP functions to upload files.

On my 2.0 revolution install, php uploads are disallowed. Is there a way to allow?

You need to add .php to the allowable filetypes in the MODx configuration (I don’t know where that is in Revo).

apologies for asking questions i could have found with some poking around system settings.

i found system setting "Uploadable File Types", key: upload_files

this item is missing from the Revolution 2.x RTFM, which is why i could not find it there.
