    Hi MODx friends,

I’d like to know if you have been successful migrating a project from online to locally on your machine.
Everything looked good so far until I tried accessing the ’manager’ panel. It won’t let me log in for some reason! Any tips would really be appreciated.

Hi, if the suggestion of Ganesh does not bring any changes, here s my method to do that:

      • Create a local folder for the website to migrate, eg "c:\xampp\htdocs\mybewsite".
      • Backup your data base form within modx to that "mywebsite" folder.
      • Transfer with FTP all the content (assets and manager and root files) from the online page to the root of that "mywebsite" folder.
      • Open up c:\xampp\htdocs\mybewsit\manager\includes\config.inc.php. Also open up "phpmyadmin" and create a database. Name it as written in the config.inc.php. Create the user that is used in the config.inc.php and assign the same password to that user. (don t forget that you assign above to the database you created earlier.
      • With the created database selected, in phpmyadmin, click the "import" tab. Click "open file" and browse to the created "mywebsite" folder. Open the backup you made, hit go.
      • [li]Open the localhost\mywebsite\manager in a browser[\li]

I know this could be done in a shorter way with less manipulations, but is does function.

Have you followed all the steps listed here for Revo or here for Evo?

Thanks guys, I did everything mentioned above but for some reason. It won’t let me log into the "Manager" (admin). Any clues?

Evo or Revo? With Evo. I routinely keep a local copy of sites and freshen it from the live version now and then. One thing worth trying if all does not go smoothly is to copy the standard Install folder to your local root and run it. If you’ve put everything in the right place, and imported the database, running the install should come up with the "Upgrade install" selected. Then you proceed to untick all the offers to install/upgrade snippets etc.

At the end of a successful install, you should be able to log in normally. If it’s not successful you shoud have a better clue as to what’s wrong. Once in, don’t forget to go to the Tools > Configuration and set the file manager and assets paths, by hitting the Rest button next to the relevant fields.

Does the manager login page open?
Is your live site running friendly URL, and how s the htaccess on the local machine?
