Where's On-Page Quick Edit?

according to this video, i should see a QuickEdit button on the live page. How can i get that?

That video is showcasing MODx Evolution and it’s QuickManager plugin. I believe you’re using MODx Revolution which at present doesn’t have that.

I think there are some plugins or snippets for front end editing in Revo being developed but I don’t remember them off the top of my head, you’d need to search the forums.

i hope custom fields will be included, including advanced and dynamic custom fields (tv’s). essential.

Like I said, I think there are some in dev. If you do a search you can find the relevant forum posts and follow their progress and add your requests

NewsPublisher for Revo lets you edit all resource fields (including TVs) in the front end and supports rich text for the content and introtext (summary) fields and for any rich text TVs. It also has a datepicker for date fields. You can specify exactly which fields and TVs to show in the front-end editing form.

The NpEditThisButton snippet provides an "Edit" button for pages that launches NewsPublisher to edit that page, but it doesn’t have a separate button for each field (nothing like that exists for Revo at this point). I’m 99% sure that you could create your own version of that with multiple tags on each page, one for each field, but I haven’t tried it. Let me know if you want to know how to do it.

Someday, if I ever have the time, I’ll have the edit button pass the fields to show through to NewsPublisher. That will make it easier. Better yet would be a plugin to look for the Evo # token and place the Edit button automatically next to each selected field. I’m not sure that would fly with the Revo parser, but I think it would.
