How do i restrict the folders the editor can see when uploading or selecting files for inclusion in TV’s eg images. All folders are viewable and uploadable to i believe? I’d like to designate access to a doc, image and video folder only perhaps. Also any fix for the apparent wayfinder bug that disallows sortBy in Mysql 5. I cant sort in MySQl 5.0.83. Others flagged this issue on other 5 versions too?

You can create a filemanager_path user setting (on the settings tab when updating a user). That will restrict the user to paths below the specified directory.
The FileUpload snippet will let you specify the directory that the uploaded files go to if you want to let users upload in the front end. You can put it on multiple pages with different target directories.
AFAIK, that bug was fixed in 5.0.67.
