Logic behind storage of Gender in Profile

    Can I ask/question the logic behind storing Gender as an INT in profiles. 1=Male and 2 = Female.

    I know this saves space within the DB, but means extra processing when saving and retrieving the informtaion. As it is now I have to retrieve the gender and then convert the value into a text based on 1 = Male and 2 = Female. I am happy to do this but feel it makes more sense to store these as Male and Female in a text field instead of INT.

    What are peoples thoughts on this.

      Well, they’d more properly be m/f, not Male/Female, for proper translations.

      The 1/2 is legacy from Evo.
