Hi guys,
I know, it’s pretty simple: Right-click > "duplicate".
But unfortunately I can’t give any user resource-group-acess with a duplicated access policy, because it’s not shown in the dropdown-field.
All I can see are the MODx-standard-policies (although the duplicated policies are shown in Access Control > Access Policies).
Maybe this is because I still don’t fully understand the difference between Access Policies and Policy Templates, but I’m not sure if this is really related to the problem.
Does anybody have a hint for me?
Thanks in advance,
stetus

MODx is great, but knowing how to use it well makes it perfect!

Hello,
unfortunately that doesn’t help me.
You’re describing the way how I get there, but when I’m in that menu, the duplicated policy isn’t shown in the dropdown-menu.
Those directions are not quite right. You want Security -> Access Controls -> Access Policies tab. Then right-click on a policy and select "duplicate."
I definitely see that option (along with "Update Policy") in the drop-down menu in MODx 2.0.8.
Are you logged in as the admin Super User?
Is the Context Access ACL entry for the Administrators user group using the Administrator policy?
Does the Administrator policy still have all the permissions checked?
Did you remove any policies from the Administrator Policy template?
Another possibility is that you were logged in as another user and the permissions didn’t get fully cleared before you logged back in as the admin.
Just to make sure, does that still happen if you flush permissions and sessions, delete all the files in the core/cache directory manually, and clear your browser cache and cookies?
I think I may understand what’s going on. Policies (duplicate or not) are only shown in the situations where they are appropriate. If you duplicate the administrator policy, for example, it won’t show up when you create a Resource Group Access ACL entry because it’s the wrong kind of policy for that situation.
Can you say what policy your are duplicating and what kind of ACL entry you’re trying to use it on?
