Problem upgrading to 2.0.8

    Hi to every one, I’m trying to upgrade from 2.0.3 to 2.0.8

    • I upload the files and go to mydomain.com/setup
    • I get 403 error (not permitted).
    • I change permission of /setup/ from 700 to 704,706 same luck
    • I change permissions of /setup/ to 705, and i get 
    FATAL ERROR: MODx Setup cannot continue.

Make sure you have uploaded all of the setup/ files; your setup/includes/config.core.php file is missing.

    • Obviously that file is in it’s place so i try permissions again:[list]
      [li]set /setup/includes to 705 and get
    [/list]
    Server error
The website encountered an error while retrieving http://www.athenslindyhop.com/setup/. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.
Here are some suggestions:

HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfill the request.

    • Change all /setup/ subdirectories to 705 and get the same
    [/li]
    [/list]

    Is it a file permissions problem, and if yes, how can I fix it? Or could it be something else?
    Any help would really be appreciated.
    I need to update the site but I’m afraid to login to the manager cause all the files for 2.0.8 have replaced the old ones and I don’t know if that could break the site.

      Did U upload all files or one directory - setup?

        All the files of course.
        But I’ll try uploading them again tonight, just in case.

        Any other ideas?
        In the mean time, do you think if I log into manager it’ll work or will I break something?

          Tell me, what is previously version did you have?
          If 2.0.7 try to switch off - register_globals.
          If yours hoster support configure PHP in .htaccess, uncomment 70 line.

            Currently using 2.0.3
            Should i try that anyways?
            I have to go now, if you think i should give it a try, i’ll do it tonight

              If U have early version of 2.0.5 go there.
              Yes, try it again.

                Try 644 for files and folders that don’t need to be writable, and 755/775 for folders that need to be written to.

                Where did you get the 700/704/705/706 from?

                  Yes, I am aware of that, but this is for issues AFTER upgrading (right?), I can’t even run the installation.

                  Where did you get the 700/704/705/706 from?
                  When i unpacked the latest modx, all folders had 700 permissions (I’m using Ubuntu 9.04) and I didn’t notice and uploaded them as they were. So then, by trial and error i tried to find permissions that would work.

                  I restored my site (good thing i backed it up before uploading the new files) and will give it a try again when I have more time to investigate.
