Installation Errors: modAccessPolicy, modContentType and others

I’m trying to install MODx Revolution 2.0.8 to my local server and it fails miserably every time. I get to the step where MODx tries to create all the tables and I get several pages of PHP errors, followed by a status report from the MODx installer. Several of the items fail. As per the posts at <http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php?topic=59512.0>, <http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,58275.msg332844.html#msg332844> and <http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,58411.0.html>, which all seem to be related I’ve tried replacing

$sql .= ")";
```
with
```
$sql .= ") ENGINE={$tableType}";
```
in "core/xpdo/om/mysql/xpdomanager.class.php" at line 296, however that didn’t fix anything. My setup details are as follows.

MODx version: 2.0.8 Traditional (Revolution)
Server: local (ubuntu) lampp installation
PHP Version: 5.3.5
Apache Version: Apache/2.2.17 (Unix) DAV/2 mod_ssl/2.2.17 OpenSSL/1.0.0c PHP/5.3.5 mod_apreq2-20090110/2.7.1 mod_perl/2.0.4 Perl/v5.10.1
MySQL Client Version: mysqlnd 5.0.7-dev - 091210 - $Revision: 304625 $
MySQL Server Version: 5.5.8 (Localhost via UNIX socket, as stated above)
Browser: Google Chrome
pdo_mysql IS installed

I am hosting the files from a public_html directory in my home folder, symbolically linked to /opt/lampp/htdocs/aaron. I cd’d to that directory (~/public_html) and then wget’d the MODx .zip, extracted it, renamed the folder so it doesn’t have the "pl" extension (what does pl stand for?), browsed to /setup and then followed the prompts. The only things I can think of are the database name (which I’ve already tried renaming), the fact that I removed the "pl" extension from the folder (seems unlikely to break it to me) or the fact that I’m using a linked directory. Oh, and I chmoded the entire directory tree to 777 before commencing the install.

Any pointers? I’ll post my errors in a reply.

I had to post twice because of the message length limit. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated - I’d love to get this up and running so I can try MODx!

No one has any idea how to fix this? I’m still stuck trying to install MODx.
