[207] big problem with tv>template association

Hi! My modx doesn’t retain the association between tv and templates. I can create tv, I then check the checkbox to link them to a template and save and all seems fine. When I look on a resource edit panel, I don’t find the tv, it’s simply empty. I then look on the template and/or tv edit panel, and find the checkbox unchecked. If you want, I can send screenshots.

I’m working on this problem for quite a long time with my provider and still we didn’t find any solution..
I’ve got this problem even with a completely fresh installation (no addons, no resources, no custom setup).

My configuration:

PHP Version 5.3.5
Apache 2.2 FastCGI
System Linux cable 2.6.34.8-unbit
mysql 5.5.9 (but same problems with previous versions), utf-8
pdo: ok
no accelerators
fastcgi_socket_timeout 60
dirs: 750, files: 640

Mac os x, safari, ff and chrome.

Also, all the install requirements have been checked several times.
Furthermore, as a private message, if you want I can send you my phpinfo.

Could you post the settings you used to create the TV? Maybe there’s something in there that the TV processor is disagreeing with.

Hi! No particular settings. Only a regular ’default’ text tv.

But yesterday, by copying a php.ini from another server (of another provider) where I have a running revo, to our new server, it started to work. So it must be some php setting. This morning we are looking at the specific rule that breaks the game, and then I’ll post it here.

One suggestion I could write, though, is to really try to simplify the requirements for revo, because to me, and to some programmers I work with, it’s quite too hard to accomodate. Never had problems with wp or joomla, but with modx revo, hey, countless problems, with different programmers and providers. I stay with modx only because apart the installation thing, it has a lot of good features, and mainly because I started a production project with it so I must finish it. But serveral times I really wanted to run away.

It’s possible that one or more files was corrupted during the file transfer. It happens more often than you might think, though the php.ini thing suggests otherwise. Feel free to post both php.ini files here.

I don’t think, because we tried several times with different downloads and by uploading directly the .zip on the server and extracting the files from there. So..

As for the requirements: this is an application built on latest technology, with many *very* convenient features which require a little more than the average CMS. I personally have never had any problem hosting Revolution on several shared hosting packages at less than 30 euro a *year*, including a domainname.


Perhaps the best thing to do when you are going to be using a different host than what you’re used to is contact their tech support, link them to the server requirements and ask them if they meet them or if they know any successfully installed installations.
