Add a Resource to a Resource Group, either by drag and drop or by the Access Permissions tab on the edit Resource page.
Go to the Resource Group screen and the file is not there.
Also, some files are missing completely from the right side of that panel (where you drag from)
I refreshed both sides of the panel but no luck.
The only way i could get the Resources to become visible again was to delete the Resource Groups.

I’m logged in as the Administrator. Is there a higher authorization than this?
I know this is probably a user error but i’m running a pretty plain vanilla 2.0.7 and it fails consistently.

no there is no higher authorization as superadministrator in MODx, but you can lock yourself out anyway.
MODx isn’t behaving like other CMS in this case, in many ways, an administrator is handled like a normal user.
There are guys around that know MODx far better that I am in this forum, but you have to give yourself (=the administrator) access to a resource group, otherwise you can’t see anymore,
I guess that’s why the resources dissappear.
Just add the administrator the the resource-group-access, I think this will solve your problem.
Not really sure what you mean with vanilla, it’s a forum, isn’t it?

Stetus is correct. If you protected the resource group (IOW, connected it to a particular user group with a Resource Group Access ACL entry), the Admin must be a member of that user group (or have a separate Context Access ACL entry giving the admin rights to that resource group). That’s the most likely cause of your issue.
Another possibility is the permissions in the Administrator policy, but it’s unlikely that you’ve changed those, and by default, the admin has them all.

Are there any plans in the future for an option that would allow superusers to have access to all resources regardless of resource group assignment? I realize the purpose of resource group assignment and it works great. Though it is cumbersome to have to add a superuser to every resource group (if resources have been delegated individually to these groups) in order for them to have access. When MODx had originally adopted this system, was there an instance where you saw it would be beneficial to control superuser access rather than giving them free reign over everything?

I have advocated giving the admin Super User access to everything, but TBH I don’t know what the implications of implementing that are.
