[SOLVED] Strange Resource Link Issue

I just installed Revolution and I am having trouble getting resource links to work, kind of.

I have a couple test pages up at iamcorbin.net, just a couple pages that link to each other using resource ids.

The strange things:

I run Ubuntu linux and the page works just fine in Google Chrome.

On Firefox it won’t leave the "Home" page, if I click "chx" or "Test" it changes the displayed URL but the page doesn’t change.

If I boot up my WindowsXP VirtualBox and load up either Google Chrome or IE it displays "Page is broken/Page cannot be found" errors at the new urls.


Anyone have any idea why this would be happening? Or could anyone else try in their browsers/OS and see what it does for them?

I presume from the appearance of the URLs that you turned on Friendly URLs. Did you also rename the ht.access files to configure Apache to make the URL rewrites?

Yes, I was actually having the issue prior to enabling Friendly URLs as well. I only uncommented the lines pertaining to friendly urls

I am hosting on nearlyfreespeech.net and the server is running PHP Version 5.3.5 with PDO

About as simple as you can get, so I don’t understand why this isn’t working. Could it be an issue with a php or apache setting? or is there something I’m overlooking?

You probably know this, but just in case -- With .htaccess renamed to something else or the FURLs section commented out, you want to have the "Use Friendly URLs" System Setting *off* in the Manager. When .htaccess is doing FURL rewrites, you want the "Use Friendly URLs" System Setting *on* in the Manager. Be sure to clear the site cache and your browser cache and cookies after making any changes.

It’s the only thing I can think of. I don’t see anything wrong with what you have and, as you say, it’s pretty simple.

Alright, I figured out what is going on, but I don’t know why. I just realized that I was logged into the manager in the only browser that it was working in and sure enough, it works fine in the other browsers and even IE6 on my windows xp virtual box machine. So this is a permission issue, and upon closer inspection just now I realize that I had not clicked the "published" check boxes on the new pages.

Noob mistake...

All set now.

Not necessarily a Noob mistake; I still do that from time to time.
