How to ... migrate Modx Portal

Hi! I’ve a working version of modx

Now I would like to migrate layout and DB to another server

Can you tell me the right steps for do this?

I’ve tried to copy portal files an reexecute setup with "upgrade"... after this I show my portal but many specials chars are wrong (è, ò, à ....)

For example

in my old portal I show:

V° Test

in my new portal I show:

V° Test


Can you tell me how to resolve this charset problem??

how did you created your new DB? Please look at the encoding of both (old and new) db.

I’ve made a dump and restore....

In the database where you did the restore, did you double-check to make sure it was all utf8? Usually when creating a new database you have to go in with phpMyAdmin, go to the Operations tab, and at the bottom you’ll see the collation selection drop down.

And was the original database also all utf8? If not, you need to alter the second database to match the character set and collation of the first.

That won’t change any existing content, it will only set the database to use utf8 on any subsequent inserts or updates.
