White Screen while moving to A New Server

I went through the same threads with the same problem but none helped to solve the white screen problem

I have succeeded to install a fresh revolution on the server - server is a Linux centos server

PHP Version 5.3.5
Mysql 5.1.54
pdo_mysql is installed
Revo 2.0.7

Following are things that I have done or checked

’memory_limit’ - 256MB
register_globals off

config.inc.php - writable
all paths in core/config/config.inc.php are updated
$http_host is updated

-paths updated in following files
/config.core.php
/connectors/config.core.php
/manager/config.core.php

- write permission given for following directories
/core/export
core/packages
assets/ --> writable
assets/components/ --> writable
/core/components/ --> writable

also went through the subdirectories of these directories and give write permission

- "path" field in workspaces table is corrected with new path

- tested with with or without .htaccess

Both manager and setup directories gives just a white space.

Any ideas what else could be the problem.

If you moved an existing site, you cannot just install a fresh version on the server. You need to move everything, upload the original setup directory for the version you are moving, and run setup in the advanced upgrade mode.

Fresh install was for testing the server - so I corrected some errors before moving the modx files to new server.

I installed original files in a separate directory, and DB.

I can’t pass the white screen barrier to open manager page or start setup process.

Clearing all the directories and files from cache directory solved the problem.

White screen is gone but I got another problem now; "Site temporarily unavailable!"

I was able to open the login page after cleaning the cache directory , but when I hit the submit button in login page, it was redirecting to login page without any warning.

So I tried to upgrade the revolution and it did so without any problem.

Now when I go to login page, manager/index.php, I got the this message "Site temporarily unavailable!".

Any ideas what could be wrong. I searched the forum but not much available.

I removed and copied the original files again.

Gone through the setup with no problem.

Login page opens, but when I enter the login and submit, it redirects back to login page.

This might be a simple mistake but I couldn’t find it yet.

When I request a new pw, the activation url has an extra "modx" in url

Login url is --> http://www.website1.com/manager/index.php

the url from password recovery --> http://www.website1.com/modx/manager/?modahsh...

Could it be from htaccess, I removed most of the code and below is the only active lines

Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /

Try deleting the files in the core/cache directory and clearing your browser cache and cookies.

FWIW, I always turn FURLs off and rename .htaccess to ht.access (so it will be ignored) before moving a site. It takes FURLs out of the equation until the site is working properly.

By selecting forgot password, you may have changed the password to something that you don’t know. You could try just editing the link sent to you to make the first part of the URL correct.

Just found the solution. I needed to change $modx_base_url= ’/modx/’; to $modx_base_url= ’’; and it logged in.

hoping solved everything, but this time, the modx opens without the "Resouces-Elements-Files" tab with the news section but not in boxes, and when I click any menu option, just a white page occurs under the menus. Clicking logout don’t take any action.

I would try running setup again after renaming .htaccess and turning off Friendly URLs (in the DB in the modx_system_settings table if you can’t do it in the Manager).

Of course it’s always possible that one or more files got corrupted or missed in the transfer -- it’s not that uncommon.

I switched off both fields, friendly_alias_urls and friendly_urls.

I tried the setup with and without an htaccess file several times.

Setup finishes without any problem but when I click the login button at the end of the setup process it goes to

http://www.website1.com/modx/manager/ instead of http://www.website1.com/manager/

When I try to login from http://www.website1.com/manager/, it looks like it logins but a page opens with menu options lineup horizontally, due to no css.

Again an extra "modx", I don’t know where this one is coming from. $modx_base_url in config file is empty.

I am planning to move all sites to modx but I am still not sure if this will be the right move.
