Change template - rich text TVs lose their content

Hi,

If i change the template used by a resource my rich text TVs lose any content that i’ve previously added to them. Other TVs seem fine and values are remembered.

Is this a known bug? Anyone else have this problem or is it just me?

The tv settings are

Input Type: RichText
Output Type: Default

I think I have experienced this before. (if I remember correctly) If you change the template, save the item, then click on the item again in the tree (so it reloads) the content appears.

Hey betoranaldi, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately didn’t seem to work.

Were those TVs already attached to the new template before you switched? When changing the template and saving, MODx would call the update processor with the TVs attached to the resource. If they weren’t also attached to the new template, MODx might not be able to save them and empty values might be saved instead.

Did you try clearing the cache?

Can you look in the database at the modx_site_templvar_contentvalues table in PhpMyAdmin to see if the content of those TVs is still there (and if the TVs are there at all for that resource)? Look for the ID of the Resource in the contentid column and the ID of the TV in the tmplvarid column.

Yeah there were already set up for use with the templates.

Ok so when i added some values to the TV i can see it in the DB with the correct Resouce ID and TV ID. As soon as I change the template and save. The TV is no longer listed for the Resource, the row seems to get completely removed.

I’m taking it this isn’t how it should be working, no one else with this issue?

I’m pretty sure i haven’t had issues with older instals of Revo. I’m now using 2.0.7.

That really sounds like a bug to me. Could you file it at http://bugs.modxcms.com, so it doesn’t fall through the cracks.

I’ve had the same problem today. A workaround until the bug is fixed is to do "quick update resource" and change the template here - the tv’s keep their values if you do this
