Moving Revo 2.0.7 site

    It looks like some stuff changed with how you move sites with Revo 2.07, yes? Now there are 3 config.core.php files mixed in amongst the others:


    • /config.core.php
    • /connectors/config.core.php
    • /manager/config.core.php

    Each file sets the following constants:
    define('MODX_CORE_PATH', '/path/to/html/core/');
define('MODX_CONFIG_KEY', 'config');


    What’s going on here? Out of curiosity, what was the reason for doing things this way?

      Those have been there for quite a while. It’s so you can move and/or rename any of the key directories and still have MODx work. In theory, those are all made correct during the upgrade setup at the new location.

      One caveat: Packages installed before the move may not uninstall smoothly after the move since the path to the files has changed. Again, in theory, an upgrade setup at the new location should fix this.

        Those are manual instructions for moving things. We need to make those alternate instructions IMO, and recommend that folks always run setup in upgrade mode when moving a Revo site.

          +1 Senility then. I didn’t notice those files until 2.0.7... and somehow I was able to successfully migrate sites without relying on running setup... and I authored that man page about how to do it, so I must have really been out to lunch.
