    Hi

I have created and been running my clients website for them and yesterday I made some text changes to a few pages and when I refreshed the pages the screen was blank but within the CMS I could only see the page structure from the Resources tab but no content when I clicked on a resource.

I had to speak to a friend (who doesn’t know MODx but knows about databases etc) and through reading a post on here: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php?topic=57192.0 he was able to clear the sites cache and everything was back up including the resources content area.

Now this morning I made another text amend and now not only do all the pages have blank screens but also I am not able to access the CMS Manager.

I have been using MODx Revolution 2.0.4-pl2 if that is of any use/help?

In the error_log message it seems to be creating a loop of this:

[Wed Jan 12 09:57:18 2011] [error] [client 88.211.31.58] FastCGI: server "/var/www/fcgi/php-cgi" stderr: PHP Warning: array_merge() [<a href=’function.array-merge’>function.array-merge</a>]: Argument #2 is not an array in /home/linweb01/m/mayvin.co.uk-9668733/user/htdocs/core/model/modx/modx.class.php on line 2769
[Wed Jan 12 09:57:18 2011] [error] [client 88.211.31.58] FastCGI: server "/var/www/fcgi/php-cgi" stderr: PHP Fatal error: Class ’modContext_’ not found in /home/linweb01/m/mayvin.co.uk-9668733/user/htdocs/core/xpdo/xpdo.class.php on line 550

Is there anything I can do? I have already sent an email to the hosting company to ask if they have changed anything and still waiting to hear back from them.

I am a front end developer so not quite sure where to start to try and rectify the issue.

The database has been backed up, and on the live server, everything seems intact - database that is. From the thread: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php?topic=57192.0 The guy resolved his issue by reinstalling the CMS but can this be avoided? OR is this the overall best solution.

    Thanks in advance

Sounds like you are running out of memory when clearing the cache—try increasing your memory_limit if it is lower than 32Mb, or if you have a lot of Resources, you may need 64Mb or more. Or possibly you have a bad Plugin that is killing the context cache file. You’ll have to provide the details requested (in red letters) below every post you make here in the forums for any further assistance.

        Hi OpenGeek

        Thanks for your reply.

This may sound silly but where do I increase the memory? As I can get into the Manager or see any content but can access the FTP and the clients control panel. If I do have a bad plugin wouldn’t that have not affected the site sometime ago?

If you can let me know where I can look for this then I can come back with more specs and put in red text.

        Cheers

            Hi

Thanks for this. Just created a php.ini file (as couldn’t see it on the clients server) but this has still not resolved the issue.

Does anyone know if their hosting service is causing this problem? And is there another solution? As I can’t get into the CMS manager, as I said before huh

If php.ini doesn’t allow you to increase php memory, it’s best to contact the host and ask them to do it (or how to).

Could try running setup in upgrade mode?

Maybe the user’s disk space quota is exceeded. We’ve had some weird errors when this happened to one of our customers. Including a broken manager. Can you check if you can upload a new file through ftp? If not, then this is most likely the cause of your problems.

                  Hi all

Well after getting no where with answers from my clients hosting provider Fasthosts, we are now migrating the website across to Site5 as they believe the issue is down to the memory limit too.

Will keep you posted on the outcome.

But fingers crossed it all goes ok for them.

                    Hi everyone

Just wanted to let you know that I got the site up and running a few hours ago Site5 got it all working for me in the end smiley And yes it was down to the memory_limit being so low!

Thanks again for your input on this.
