I’ve got a question concerning TVs in subfolders and resource groups.
I’ve added a folder that contains several subfolders to a resource group, when I want to create a new document in the lowest-leveled subfolder, the TVs are not shown. Actually the tab is there, but with no content at all.
Strange thing: I can create new resources in the highest-leveled folder that contains all the TVs (I added this folder to a resource group, but I think all the sub-elements are added to it as well).
Am I doing something wrong or is this just the normal behaviour of the system?

Not sure what subfolders have to do with Template Variables at all. There is no inheritance of Resource Group permissions in Resources that serve as Containers, so what Template Variables are showing should only depend on the Template of the Resource (unless you protected Template Variables via those Resource Groups directly).

this is very strange. It took me some time to check everything you mentioned, just to be sure I’m not making some kind of stupid mistake, but I still don’t know what I do wrong.
I use the same template on every resource, so that can’t be the problem.
Unfortunately I’m not 100% sure if I get you right with "TVs protected directly via Resource Group", but I don’t think I’ve done something like that.
It’s not a big thing, users can still create resources in a higher-leveled folder und drag it to the right folder, I’m just unhappy because I don’t know what I do wrong, even after checking all your hints.
Maybe I’ll find the time in the next weeks to test even more to get behind it.

Do you have any form customization rules relating to those TVs?
Do you have a Context Access ACL for those users that doesn’t contain permissions to see and/or edit TVs?
Are the TVs themselves in a category (i.e., under a category folder in the Elements tree) and is there an Element Category Access ACL entry that could affect them?
Did you you possibly assign a resource policy in a Context Access ACL entry instead of an Administrator policy (not possible in the latest versions of MODx).

thanks a lot for your answer and hints.
I don’t have any form customizations relating to those TVs and I use MODx 2.0.6 advanced,
so I guess the problem can’t be related to wrong assigned resource policies to the Context ACL.
I indeed have a Context Access ACL for those users, but they contain the right to view TVs
(and as described in my first post, they’re able to see and edit the TVs in a higher-leveled resource).
Same with the Element Category Access. That’s why I thought it must be somehow related to Resource Groups...
Anyway, it’s not the first time here you give your best to help me out, THANKS A LOT for that!
What version of MODx? The most recent versions with Policy Templates make it easier to see what permissions people have.
2.0.6-pl (advanced), but I’ll update to 2.0.7 within the next days.
I know that it’s easier now, I think it was 2.0.5 that brought a lot of improvements concerning access permissions.
Anyway, although it’s a lot clearer now to see, I still have no idea what’s the cause of this problem.
Try this: Add yourself (the admin Super User) to all the user groups with a role of admin Super User.

I found time now to check this: I’m already added to the user groups as an admin Super User.
Really strange. Maybe it would really be a good idea now to test this one final time and then report it as a bug. I think I’ll do this, as soon as I find the time to.

One last thing to check.
Go to Security -> Access Controls -> User Groups tab
Update the Administrator user group
Go to the Element Category Access tab
Make sure there is an ACL entry there for the category the TVs are in, a minimum role of 0 (super user), a policy of element, and a context of Mgr.
