I have a site in development on 1&1 servers and it keeps refusing to let me log in. The password reset doesn’t work either claiming the email address doesn’t exist in the system. However if I log into the MySQL database, I can see the username, email, and encrypted password in there.

The same 1&1 account has run a MODx 1.xx site for years without this problem.

Any idea what’s happening? Obviously I can’t have this happening once I hand the site over to a customer.

Are you 100% positive you’re accessing the same database?

Yes. I can verify some information that I added "new" a couple days ago.

Sorry, I’m not a Revo user; it’s just that I’ve actually done that (gotten my databases mixed up), so it seemed worth mentioning.

            Something else I just tried...

I flushed the browser cache but that didnt’t help.

However when I tried "forgot passord" reset, after flushing the cache, it did recognize the email and sent me a new password which allowed me to log in.

I still don’t know why it wouldn’t work earlier with the original password. I will have to see if it happens again.
