Not moving server, Just renaming

Hi All,

I’m about ( tomorrow ) to rename an account on my server in order to set a site live and wondered if there was anything to consider.

The site has been built on ( for example ) test.com and I will be renaming it to live.com via WHM, so basically the server wont change and neither will the user name so the paths will stay the same ( ie home/username/public_html/etc/etc/etc )

Is there anything I need to do to set the site live other than change the account domain and point the names servers for the live site to the new host ??

Only ask as as far as I know running the upgrade will only update the paths which will stay the same any way

Yes, there will be a couple things to change... in the core/config/config.inc.php there is one entry that stores the domain name of the site -- you’ll want to update that. Have a look at the docs:

You may also need to update your .htaccess file if you verbosely included your domain name in that file for rewrite rules.

Id checked the config.inc.php file but missed the 1 entry in there, not edited the .htaccess so that wont make any affect on the rename.

Also read the "moving to a new server" doc but as I’m not just thought I would ask to make sure I hadn’t missed anything as that mentions updating the paths etc that wont change.

Deep breath tomorrow and hopefully all goes well, will be the first revo site I have set live and has been a rebuild from evo
