k, here’s note from tech sppt:
Hello there,
Yes, localhost is correct for mysql connection settings if your database is on the same server as the site that will be accessing it.
I feel stymied. Absolutely nothing happens when I click the ’test database server connection.’
The database abstraction layer is one of the things that makes Revo so cool.
I waited a few months before jumping in to get all the glitches ironed out. I installed beta5 no problem (.. after enabling suPHP).
I am pretty familar with databases and config’ing their connections. I mean, there are only a few variables.
I’m hoping it’s due to a problem with directory perms being set too high. I have a new shell script I’m gonna try to set all directories to 755, and files to 644.
chmod -R 755 /absolute/path/modx
If that doesn’t work, I’ll wait another 3 months.
I was really looking fwd to this.
btw - here’s a good link on suPHP from cPanel:
http://docs.cpanel.net/twiki/bin/view/EasyApache3/ApachePHPRequestHandling#suPHP considerations
For PHP scripts to execute, permissions of 0644 are sufficient. Scripts are run as the user who owns the VirtualHost, and as long as this user has permissions sufficient to write to a file or directory, PHP scripts will also have the ability to do so.
