The 'Preview' button

Hello,

I often experience that pushing the ’preview’ button on a resource in manager tries to open the page from the ./manager/ subdirectory, for example: http://[MYDOMAIN]/modx/manager/somepage.html and gets 404 error. It may happen on published as well as on non-published ones. What should be done for that to work? Probably setup some .htaccess in ./manager/?

Definitely should not be occurring that way, and I can’t reproduce it on any platform. Can you provide more details about your installation and environment? The browser you are using? And perhaps describe if it’s possible this experience you often have occurs after taking a very specific sequence of steps?

Thank you. It seems that this behavior is pretty stable: once I open any resource and press ’Preview’ before it is saved, it opens from ’./manager/’. After saving the resource, ’Preview’ opens it from the correct path.

My setup is a bit complicated, because I’m using MODx for multiple domains, and for that I use different contexts. Another thing is that in fact the modx installation is beyond document root, and there’s a webserver "Alias" from each domain’s modx subdirectory to the real modx directory. I had to do that because the site owner wanted to have modx firstly for alternate, testing version of his sites under some subdirectory.

That’s my hosting specifications:

System: FreeBSD web48.nic.ru 6.4-RELEASE-p7 FreeBSD 6.4-RELEASE-p7 #7: Sun Oct 4 02:40:13 MSD 2009 [email protected]:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/HNIC-SMP-ULE-IBM pl#12 i386
PHP version: 5.2.10
Apache Version: Apache/1.3.37 (Unix) mod_fastcgi/2.4.2 mod_perl/1.29 PHP/5.2.10
MySQL Version: 	client: 5.1.16-beta (from php_info()); server: 5.1.41-log (from MODx System Info) with pdo_mysql

I use Mozilla Iceweasel/Firefox 3.5.15

You can’t Preview something before it is saved. The bug is the Preview button should not be enabled until the Resource is Saved.

As a side note, this should have been re-labelled "View" in 2.0.5, since "Preview" isn’t really accurate. What version are you running?

I am using russian translation of the Manager so I might not notice the change as the words in russian are very close:) I am now on 2.0.6.
