Broken Thumbnails

I’m experiencing an issue with the Filebrowser and ImageTV thumbnails. I get only broken image-links although in "core > cache > phpthumb" there are all the correct thumbnails stored. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

GD: bundled (2.0.34 compatible)

Where exactly are the pages with these broken images? Is it on the front-end or in the manager? Could you give us an example URL?

It’s possible that the paths are goofed up due to absolute vs. relative filenames. Sometimes this is a result of having installed in a subdirectory or not having configured the relevant system settings correctly.

The pages are on the manager. I get broken image-links on the Image-TV previews and also on the Filebrowser when I browse the Image-TV.

The funny thing is that the system creates the thumbnails in the cache folder but it doesn’t show me the images...

I’ve got the filebrowser working and restricted to /assets/resources and when I add an image with an image tv, the little thumbnail displays. However, when I come back to the resource at a later time, I see the broken image icon and the path is always something like: /connectors/system/phpthumb.php?h=150&w=150&src=assets/resources/man-yellow.jpg for the thumbnail. So I assume I need to change a setting for phpthumb, I’m just not sure which one.

What happens if you put a leading slash on the image path, e.g.

http://www.domain.com/connectors/system/phpthumb.php?h=150&w=150&src=/assets/files/photos/sample.jpg

(note the /assets). Does that change anything?

nope, still nothing. very strange. And if it had worked, what setting would I change to effect the view in the manager? I assume we’re all talking about the same thing, but for reference, please see the attached screen capture.

Also, I’ve just noticed that when adding images via TinyMCE, the leading slash is missing (screenshot attached). Unless inserted manually, the path ends up as /assets/components/tinymce/assets/resources/images/systems-diagram.png Any ideas?

Just to be clear, IS the image file at that location? Can you navigate directly to that image and have it display in a browser? Might it be a permissions issue where phpThumb somehow can’t read the file?

The file is at the location. If I add the leading ’/’ in TinyMCE it shows up in the preview. When I select the image with the resource browser, launched from within TinyMCE, I can see all the thumbnails. I can also see the full size image when I hover over it in the site tree file tab (Resources | Elements | -> Files <-). If I type the path http://mysite.com/assets/resources/couple-green.jpg it shows up, and if I disable TinyMCE and type that into the resource, the image shows up on the front. Something is screwy with paths. The leading slash gets stripped by TinyMCE and by the the logic behind the image TV. Changing any of the relative/absolute settings just breaks things, though. Tiny is set to use rootrelative. I’ve attached another screenshot, this is the settings for the filemanager.


When I first choose an image via the image TV (my first example) a thumbnail is visible and the path is to /connectors/system/phpthumb.php?h=150&w=150&src=image.jpg only when I return to the resource does it update to a different location. This is different from the issue with Tiny, but suggests to me that there is something very wrong with how I’ve configured my paths. I just don’t quite know what.

Changing any of the ’Yes’ values to ’No’ breaks the file manager -- it requests a valid path -- changing the base dir to /absolute/filesystem/path/to/my/web/directory/assets/resources does not help, either.

Now it works for me. It was a permission problem. I changed to FastCGI now and it works fine.
But now I get another issue. When I select a photo in the filebrowser it shows me the thumbnail,
but when I close the document and open it again, the thumbnail has gone.

It doesn’t remove the "assets/ressources" from the path. In my systemsettings I edited the path for the filebrowser to: assets/ressources

Is this a bug or a wrong setting?
